The global COVID-19 pandemic has hit the Dominican Republic and precautions are being enforced by the government as in the majority of other countries around the world. SRI continues to closely monitor the situation and remains in communication with our Dominican partners as we work to do everything we can in the best interest of the organization and those we serve.

A look at the countryside just beyond the property edge of the REVOLUTION Project.

The Dominican Republic has issued stay at home orders for the entire country and has halted all travel by air, land, and sea. Nonessential businesses are closed, so that means most construction work on the REVOLUTION Project has paused. There are still security guards working onsite and some minor work being completed by electricians and other various skilled laborers, but the majority of the construction work has had to stop for now. SRI has experienced cancellations of teams that were expected in the coming months, so volunteer labor will also not be available for a while.

SRI continues to wait with the rest of the world to find out what is to come in the days ahead. In the meantime, we hope you will continue to join us in praying specifically for the Dominican Republic and SRI as we put our hope in God’s leading and protection during a time of uncertainty and unknowns.
