We are happy to report that it’s been a busy and encouraging month for the Revolution! Joe and Shannon have spent the last two weeks in the Dominican Republic, so we apologize for the delay in your monthly update. Current campaign details will be released in the beginning of December, so check back soon for those exciting updates! A lot has happened since the October 1st update post. Joe and Shannon, along with Clinic Director, Dr. Canario, and Medical Team Coordinator, Bienvenida Suero, spent an afternoon with a very important man in Solid Rock’s history, Dr. Jim Diller (pictured below with Dr. Canario and Joe Zimmerman).
Dr. Diller, a plastic surgeon and former missionary in Africa and Haiti, was among the first to bring medical teams to serve and stay in the SRI guesthouse in 1991. It was very exciting to share with him that the long-anticipated dream of a new clinic in San Juan is finally being realized. Pictured below, Dr. Canario reviews the drawings for the new clinic with Dr. Diller.
After visiting with Dr. Diller, the crew then travelled to see Dorine Smith, founder and first missionary with Solid Rock International along with her late husband, Jim Smith. It was a very special and emotional time as Dr. Canario was reunited with his American “Mami”.
After these special visits, there were many trips to present the Revolution at various locations. We are very appreciative to the support and hospitality from First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, OH, Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon, OH, Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, IL, Brookside Church in Fort Wayne, IN, Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne, IN, and First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, SC. Pictured below are highlights from the Pine Hills presentation.
We thank you again for the overwhelming support of this project that will continue to transform lives in the Dominican Republic. If you have not yet done so, we ask that as you plan your end of year giving that you consider supporting the Revolution campaign. Please check back soon for some very exciting updates in the beginning of December!
