Well, this week was a bittersweet one, with it being Kamanda, Braegan, and my last week here serving with Solid Rock International. Luckily we got to finish our last week with the team from Pine Hills Church which included Kamanda’s father, her sister, and many friends and familiar faces. The team worked construction in the mornings and VBS in the afternoon. It was a grueling schedule, but they handled it like champs!

Part of the team worked on repairing the northern metal fence…again. It seems as if almost every weekend a huge storm blows through and sends metal sheets flying across the construction site. This team made sure to secure the new fence posts with cement, so hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

The rest of the crew was on wall duty. They either worked with rebar, made forms, laid block, or mixed concrete. This by far was the dirtier crew by the end of the day. The south wall has made great progress, and the last of the holes were dug this week.

Along with the block that was laid on the south wall this week, this team got to see the first of the clinic walls begin to go up as a team of around 80 masons and crew started laying out the block. After three days of work about 3 lines of block had been laid for all the exterior and interior walls. It’s incredible the transformation that happens when the walls become visible.

As always, SRI board member Ken Potter has more updates on the clinic progress here. Ken often uses the great example of thousands of water drops continually hitting the same spot on a rock to describe the impact teams have had on the San Juan region. Over time those drops will eventually make a hole. I hope you are all as impressed with the progress over the last one and a half years as we are. We have had all types of volunteer labor, from ages 7 to 70. What’s stopping you from being a part of the REVOLUTION? Make the decision to come down and be a part of that progress. Also visit the SRI website here and find a way get involved. Every little bit drop counts!
